Bay to Breakers is a footrace that happens every year in San Francisco, CA. The race was started in 1912 as a way of raising spirits after the destructive 1906 earthquake. The race starts at the Embarcadaro (by the bay) and runs the width of the city through Golden Gate Park and ends at Ocean Beach on the Pacific (where the waves break) and this where the name “Bay to Breakers” comes from. Bay to Breakers is the longest consecutively running footrace in the world.
