Prototype is the story of a man, Alex Mercer, who wakes up with no memory, but finds he has the ability to control the whole genetic makeup (this setup reminds me of Oneby ASC Games which was on the original Sony Playstation). Alex sets out on mission to find out what happened to him and make those responsible for creating him pay.

The setting of Prototype is a completely open world recreation of New York City. When you begin your revenge your character tries to stay low and keep the rest of the world out of it, but you soon realize that it’s too late and the rest of the world is already tied up in it. An outbreak occurs and New York is quarantined leaving you, the rest of the infected, and the military which is being run by a group called Blackwatch.
The gameplay in Prototype looks amazing. Put together by Sierra and Radical Entertainment, Prototype looks like a game that would fit in perfectly with other open world game like Spiderman, Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, Crackdown, and Grand Theft Auto. Although compared with Prototype, those others (with the exception of GTA) might as well be chutes and ladders.
You can run up walls like they were nothing, much like in Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, and leap from place to place like Spiderman
without the webbing. Alex can shapeshift into anyone from his memory, transform his hands into deadly claws, or blast destructive spikes from the ground. Ther is a great part in the gameplay video is watching Alex climb a wall, jump onto a flying helicopter, rip the driver out, and then use the helicopter to blast away his enemies. Of course much of this gets tossed aside the first time you see him rip of a pedestrian’s head and watch blood spill all over the camera similarly to Gears of War.
What Prototype seems to have done is take all the best parts of our favorite games and blended them together into game that looks truly wicked! According to the website we should be able to get our hands on Prototype this holiday season. They can take as long as they want if you ask me, as long as it can live up to what I have seen.
